Application

Permnent Magnetic Base is used to hold a CMM arm. This arm is mounted on a magnetic base to hold work piece in a rigid manner

Characteristics

  1. Permanent Magnetic base consisting powerful Nd Fe B grade magnets.
  2. The magnetic field is controlled by ON/OFF position of the handle/lever.
  3. In "ON" position, the handle is rotated clockwise through 180 degree so that concentrated magnetic field is produced and transferred to the job through the poles
  4. In "OFF" position, the handle is rotated in a reverse direction so that the total magnetic circuit will be shorted within the body
  5. The bottom portion is in 'V' shape so that uneven contact area of work piece will not create a problem for holding CMM ARM, whereas conventional magnetic base having plain bottom surface which cannot create 100% contact with work piece hence CMM arm can move slightly or it can also fall. By considering this difficulty, we have designed rectangular Magnetic Base with 'V' shape bottom
  6. The upper plate is available in Round shape OR Square shape also for mounting the ARM with suitable mounting holes OR Tapping
  7. In case of jerking or miss operating, safety lock is provided so that the ARM will not release its space.

Spares

All the spares like magnetic assembly, handle, safety lock assembly, stoppers, hook etc. are available so that, when a magnet is in unused condition then, it will not go in a scrap.

Precautions

  1. Manetic Base must be used for the applicatin for which it is made.
  2. Assure contact area and balance while operation
  3. It is necessary to keep the magnetic face clean and dent free
  4. When a base is not in use for long period apply grease OR oil on magnetic faces to avoid the rusting.
  5. It is recommended to test load at least once a yar so that it confirms the holding capacity and life of spares.

Performance

Consider 40% lifting force while line contact with work piece. For 100% utilization of recommended capacity, it's important to hve a close contact between magnetic face and work piece.

Safety Related NORMS

Magnetic bases are checked on Universal Testing Machine(UTM) for pulling test. After testing, it is certified by the laboratory and the certificate is provided

Operation Sequence (Follow the steps)

  1. Connect CMM ARM to base
  2. Align the base on work piece.
  3. Turn the lever clockwise for energizing (ON) it.
  4. After operation trn the lever in anti clockwise for de-energizing (OFF) it.
